Looking Ahead to Goodwood Revival 2012

Goodwood Revival 2012 - Over-The-Road Map
Over-The-Road Map
Regent's stand at this years Goodwood Revival has been confirmed, Jason and Will are looking forward to returning to Goodwood, near Chichester, for their third year at the Revival event. The historic motorsport show this year will be held on the 14th - 16th September. The stand will remain in the Over-The-Road area of the show, this year Regent have got a bigger space in a great spot between the vintage fairground and the Bonhams auction hall. Click here to see the map in detail.
Historic Motor Racing at Goodwood

The Revival is a chance to step back in time, everyone (well nearly everyone) makes the effort to dress up in outfits from the 1940's, 50's and 60's and watch cars from from the era racing on the track. Whilst if you wander away from the track you will be greeted by live music, dancers, the mods and rockers having a scrap outside Tesco (all for the crowds entertainment of course) and a car park on the edge of the Over-The-Road area full of historic road tax exempt cars. The Spitfire flypast is for many one of the biggest highlights of the day.

Regent can of course help you with your outfit requirements ahead of the show, whether it is a boating blazer and cravat for the men or a polka-dot dress and clutch handbag for the ladies. If you have an outfit in mind that you can't find on the High Street, with enough time Jason and Will can always help, offering advice on styling and putting Regent's made-to-measure tailoring service to use.

Bonhams always have a great collection of cars for auction, for those that maybe can't afford to join in the bidding there is at least an opportunity to have a look over some of the finest examples of vintage cars that are still on the road. To find out more about this years auction you can visit Bonhams here.

To find out more about the show and purchase tickets you can visit Goodwood's website here. To see where else you can see Regent this year have a look at the events calendar on the website.

The Kitchen Sessions - Part I

We hope this will be the first of many entertaining music sessions, recorded in our kitchen at 73 New Street, Salisbury. Click on the image to watch the video.

Andrew Walworth, resident artist at Regent called in with some ideas on a piece he wanted to paint for the new front room in the shop, the next we knew he had picked up the guitar that has sat in the shop for the last year (neither Jason or Will can play the guitar so it doesn't get much use!) and started playing a tune. A tune of his own, no less!

After a bit of gentle arm twisting we convinced Andrew to let us film him playing and so the first Kitchen Session was underway. We have a few musicians in our sights who we would like to perform but if you want to show us what you've got, we'd love for you to come in and play for us!

Suits You, Sir - by Karl Splash, Valley News

Sometimes we get stuck in our old ways, wearing the same clothes day in day out whether it be same style or even just the same clothes! When is it time for a change? In an ever increasing image conscious world it seems to be becoming More and more important making an initial impact, don’t they say the first 5 minutes of meeting somebody can decide your future?! Whether your trying to clinch that big business deal or get that job you have always wanted, confidence and presentation is everything, you may know it all but do you look like you do? As said you have to look the part its not a style thing, but just something the modern world demands of you.

Having started Valley News right from the beginning with my business partner David Parker, perhaps this was the case with me, the business evolved but my wardrobe hasn’t evolved as fast. Now were in a high street office where I am seen ever more day in day out by the public through the office window and people can come and see us of the street. I am meeting more and more potential decision makers.
With this in mind, I popped in to Regent Tailoring on New Street, I am firm believer in where possible shop local even if it means paying that bit more we need to keep our small businesses alive as thats where the growth began for the vast majority of businesses.

Regent Tailoring is the prime example of this, a true local brand started from scratch by Jason Regent.

I have known Jason since I was 15 when he was manager of Repertoire in Salisbury, he worked in London for Ede and Ravenscroft, the Royal tailors for about 10 years. From there he developed his own brand in his own premises. (To read the full story behind Regent Tailoring click here.)
I told him I was looking for a fresh look, especially after being told I looked like a scruffy journalist on a previous occasion, although maybe not true, its good to have criticism makes you aspire to be better.
Not being all that flush I suggested we do a before and after Karl marketing manager at the Valley News, as it would make a nice feature and I would benefit in having some fresh eyes on my appearance. And perhaps I would be persuaded to purchase a suit. I was astounded by how well the clothes fitted me on the day. I’m certainly no model but I felt like one.

I have to confess I have never been a fan of spending a lot of money on clothes, but if they fit as well as the clothes I tried on, on the day and give you that look and feel that your a very important person to be reckoned with, I might just yet be persuaded to have my very own tailored suit. (To learn about Regent's made-to-measure suits visit the website here.)
Its amazing how Jason knew what would fit and suit me well without having anything tailored for me. A unique talent! I can now truly say I have been converted to a suit person! A Regent suit person, the highest quality materials I have tried on. Off-the-peg suits cost from £550 and made-to-measure suits from £650, high value products at reasonable prices. Some may think this is a lot to spend on a good suit but if it means you walk in brimming with confidence and comfort its a small price to pay for a greater chance of success.

KiCKS - A Short Film

Regent recently had the opportunity to work with Wilky Photography to produce a short film, KiCKS is the result of a day spent on location at Druids Lodge Polo Club near Salisbury. To watch the film on Regent's You Tube channel, click here. You can find links to other films featuring clothing by Regent through the Regent website.

The project was a great opportunity for Will Wilkinson to show us what he could do with film, as well as with his great photography, whilst Regent could have some fun styling some different outfits using items from their own collection along with pieces from People Tree and Monkee Genes.
